		Training and Certification of Internal BD-CMM Appraisers The BD-Institute's program to train and certify qualified personnel within the corporation to perform appraisal tasks offers corporations the flexibility to manage their own program, using BD-Institute methods and tools. It also gives them unique access to the BD-Institute's resources for such things as benchmarking of results Trained to Appraise BD Capability Using BD-Institute Methods and Tools. Candidate internal appraisers experience the same training program used to train the BD-Institute's Certified Appraisers. Mentored on Actual BD-CMM Appraisals. The adopter corporation coordinates the training of their internal appraisers with conducting actual baseline appraisals within the corporation, to give their internal appraisers practical experience and provide near-term value to the corporation. Ongoing Access to BD-Institute Resources. Through their internal appraisers' continuing relationship with the BD-Institute, the corporation has access to the full range of BD-Institute tools, lessons learned, etc. Overview Training and certifying internal BD-CMM appraisers is a rigorous process designed to prepare them as process leaders within their corporations: Candidate appraisers who meet the BD-Institute's qualifications and standards are trained in the BD-CMM, its appropriate interpretation to operating environments, and how to conduct BD-CMM appraisals. The BD-Institute provides mentoring and continuing support and guidance for internal BD-CMM appraisers, giving them access to all the same tools and resources used by the BD-Institute's own Certified Appraisers. The BD-Institute works with internal appraisers to plan and administer BD-CMM appraisals within their corporation, including oversight needed for them to accredit their corporation's operating units.
