Orientation to BD-CMM Concepts and Implementation


This workshop allows participants to gain initial competence with the BD-CMM as their framework, path, and guide to sustainable results in business development (BD):

  • Understand the model's structure and vocabulary. The BD-CMM applies industry-standard CMM® concepts and language to Business Development.
  • Become familiar with BD-CMM key practices. The BD-CMM embeds proven practices in Business Development that allow users to transform their BD operations and to achieve leading-edge business results.
  • Learn how to determine the maturity of your organization's BD capability. The BD-CMM provides a standard for measuring BD maturity and establishing an improvement baseline upon which to extend capability.
Overview
This workshop provides a compact overview of the model's essential features and how it should be interpreted and applied to a user company. Attendees will acquire:
  • Fundamental knowledge of the BD-CMM's structure, the organization of its key practices, and its strategy to grow from one maturity level to the next
  • Basic understanding of the practices that comprise the BD-CMM, how they support goals at each maturity level, and what impact they can have in a given BD organization
  • Initial grounding in how to determine maturity levels and the relative value of various appraisal approaches in establishing a BD-CMM maturity baseline
  • Appreciation for the cycle that an organization should anticipate when using the BD-CMM to plan and institutionalize improvements
