Introduction to the CMM® for Business Development


This workshop allows participants to develop expertise with the BD-CMM appropriate to lead their organization's implementation of the model as its framework, path, and guide to sustainable results in business development:

  • Become competent with the model's structure, maturity levels, and key practices. Participants work with industry best practices and address issues related to maturing their business development capability and institutionalizing that capability to achieve both near- and long-term results.
  • Interpret the model for specific environments. Within the BD-CMM framework, participants develop implementation strategies and apply the model's practices to a specific organization and achieve specific benefits.
  • Establish an improvement baseline and prepare improvement plans. Participants use the BD-CMM to establish an improvement baseline and choose appropriate ways to implement improvements, using the model's defined growth paths simplify the process and manage capability growth.

Overview

This workshop provides an in-depth introduction to BD-CMM key practices and their application to specific organizations. Using small groups, brainstorming, and work sessions, the workshop allows participants to apply essential BD-CMM concepts and practices. Participants acquire:
  • Detailed working knowledge of key process areas (KPAs), key process categories (KPCs), maturity levels, key practices, and maturity growth
  • In-depth understanding of how to interpret the model within an individual business-development environment
  • Solid grounding in how to establish an improvement baseline, what to include in a BD-CMM implementation plan, and how to use BD-CMM metrics in planning improvements and managing capability.
